Our History

United Shalom Pentecostal Church Liverpool – Our History

United Shalom Pentecostal Church Liverpool extends a warm and heartfelt welcome to all who join us for our Spirit filled Malayalam/English worship every Sunday. We invite individuals and families from all backgrounds to come and experience a place where God’s love is celebrated in both Malayalam and English, making it a truly multilingual church community.

United Shalom Pentecostal Church Liverpool (USPC), a vibrant Malayalam Pentecostal Church in Liverpool, was founded in 2003 with a vision guided by the Holy Spirit. Starting as a small group of believers, united in fellowship and prayer, the church has since blossomed into a thriving community of Indian Pentecostal Christians committed to fulfilling the Great Commission. As a Malayalam Pentecostal church in Liverpool, our ministry reflects the rich cultural heritage and spiritual depth of the Malayali Christian community, while also welcoming people from all walks of life, fostering a multilingual environment of worship and fellowship.

Our worship initially started in Wirral, where a small group of believers gathered faithfully. As the congregation grew, God opened doors for us to move to a place in Kensington, Liverpool. In His abundant grace, we were blessed to find our own space in Whiston, next to Whiston Community Hall, where our church is now firmly established. This journey is a testament to God’s faithfulness and provision, and we continue to uphold the values of prayer, worship, and biblical teaching, with services conducted in both Malayalam and English to serve a diverse, multilingual congregation.

Under the pastoral leadership of Pastor Philip Varghese (Jose) and the shared vision of its members, the church has flourished spiritually, fostering a profound sense of community and purpose. With a focus on prayer, worship, and biblical teaching, the United Shalom Pentecostal Church Liverpool continues to welcome individuals and families from all walks of life, providing a space where both the Malayalam-speaking community and those from other backgrounds can unite in worship and grow in faith. The church embodies the scriptural calling:

“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.” (Acts 2:42)

A Ministry Built on Prayer and Service

The church offers a range of ministries aimed at nurturing individuals of all ages:

  • Youth Meetings designed to inspire and equip young people to live for Christ and embrace their faith.
  • Children’s Meetings, which focus on nurturing godly values based on the biblical principle: “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old, he will not depart from it.” (Proverbs 22:6)
  • Area-Based Cell Prayer Meetings, designed to promote unity and fellowship within the community.
  • Vacation Bible School (VBS), an initiative that engages children with the Word of God during school holidays.
